Bomb 51mm H.E. is fired from 51mm Mortar,having a smooth bore. This bomb is used as an antipersonnel bomb for hitting targets which are beyond the immediate firing range.The bomb body is made out of steel(Specification BS 1449 or BS 970)

The body made of mild steel is easily fragmented. A notched coil is fitted around its internal diameter to obtained proper size fragments.The fuze used is a direct action detonating type.The design adopted in the fuze prevents premature arming while transporting and handling.

QUALITY

Strict quality measures are adopted during all stages of manufacture of components,filling assembly and packing . Each component used is proved/inspected separately before being released for filling/assembly.In addition, functioning,dynamic proof is carried out in association with Service Quality Assurance Agency. The Bomb is filled and assembled in lots of 1000 Nos.

SAFETY

Multiple Machanical Safety devices have been provided in the Fuze to ensure total safety in handling and transportation.

RELIABILITY

The bombs are capable of functioning in subzero as well as at high temperature effectively.

PACKING

The packing consists of a plastic container which holds one bomb and six containers are packed in a bag and four such bags are packed in a steel box.
