This ammunition is of UK design and is high technical ammunition among the 105-mm versions.The gun is fired electrically.

This is a Q.F fixed type ammunition. the design of the ammunition and functioning are like Artilery components expecting that the projectile is a solid shot and there is no fuze assembled into the projectile. The projectile defeats the armour due to its kinetic energy. The cartridge case RW 244 is manufactured from brass to specification JSS 9535-2. The shot (projectile)has various sub-assemblies viz(a)Tail unit ,(b) Driving Band(c) Centering Band (d) sabot (e) pentrator assembly and (f) The propellant is multi-tubular IPP M/167.Primer Elec. L1A4 is screwed at the base of the cartridge case and is having a resistance of 15 to 65 ohms.The primer fun_ ctions when a firing voltage of 16 volts is applied to it.This ammunition is manufactured to Governament of India,Ministry of Defence Specification No. CQA (A) 5704 and drawing NO.IRW 149 GF.

The primer is of electrical type and does not get intiated unless it receives. The electrical impulse.Further no fuze is assembled into the projectile . As such, this ammunition is absolutely safe during manufacture,storage and transit.

PACKING

Each round is packed in water proof laminated paper container ,the lid and body of which is sealed together with two turns of tape adhesive water proof .Two such containered rounds are finally packed in steel box.
