The ammunition is of UK origin and is fired through O.Q.F 105/531A. This ammunition is identical to 105 mm HESH ammunition with exception that the projectile is filled with inert composition and the ammunition is for practice only. The Gun is fired electrically. The ammunition is of fixed type.
The cartridge case is made of brass to specification JSS-9535-2.The cartridge ase is slightly tapered through out its length. The Shell body is made of steel to specification JSS-9510-1 Gde SS/F-30.It is cylindrical in shape fitted with two driving bands.The shell is filled with insert composition and one base fuze L29A3 is assembled into it.One exploder and one flash pellet is also assembled into the shell.This ammunition is manufactured to Governament of India ,Ministry of Defence Specification No.IA 1207 and drawing No.RW 114 GF.
The ammunition is used for practice purpose to train the army.
The fuze does not get armed unless it is spun above 7000 rpm.The primer also cannot be intiated unless it receives an electric impluse.
Due to its sound design and careful manufacture,the ammunition is very reliable for use in combat field environment.
Each round is packed in water proof laminated paper container ,the lid and body of which is sealed together with two turns of tape adhesive water proof .Two such containered rounds aren finally packed in steel box.
